Specialized care.
Singular focus.

Dr. Anurag Mehrotra is a board-certified interventional pulmonologist specializing in advanced bronchoscopic procedures, thoracic oncology, and complex airway management. His practice brings a comprehensive procedural skill set — including cone beam CT-guided bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, cryotherapy, and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction — to patients in Memphis and across the region.

His work is grounded in precision diagnosis, evidence-based technique, and a commitment to making the most advanced interventional tools available to patients who need them. He collaborates closely with thoracic oncology, surgery, and radiology to ensure seamless, coordinated care.

Dr. Mehrotra is an active clinical researcher, contributing to national trials and institutional programs that advance the science of bronchoscopic diagnosis and lung cancer staging.

A comprehensive procedural practice covering advanced bronchoscopy, airway intervention, pleural disease, and lung volume reduction — each performed with precision and guided by the latest evidence.

01
Advanced Bronchoscopy
Cone beam CT-guided, robotic, and navigational bronchoscopy for peripheral lung nodule biopsy and diagnosis.
02
EBUS Bronchoscopy
Endobronchial ultrasound for mediastinal and hilar lymph node staging and tissue acquisition.
03
Rigid Bronchoscopy
Airway stents, tumor debulking, cryotherapy, laser, APC, and electrocautery for complex central airway disease.
04
Pleural Disease
Medical thoracoscopy with pleurodesis and biopsy, thoracentesis, and PleurX catheter placement.
05
Lung Volume Reduction
Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction with Zephyr and Spiration valves, including Chartis physiologic evaluation.
06
Comprehensive Lung Nodule Care
End-to-end nodule evaluation — CT characterization through biopsy, pathology coordination, and multidisciplinary management.
07
Persistent Air Leaks
Endobronchial valve placement for post-surgical or post-procedural persistent air leaks.
08
Hemoptysis Management
Bronchoscopic diagnosis and management of hemoptysis, including complex cases requiring rigid bronchoscopy and targeted treatment.

How I
approach
every case.

Interventional pulmonology sits at the intersection of diagnostic precision and therapeutic courage. My practice is defined by a refusal to accept that a difficult nodule is unreachable or that a complex airway cannot be managed.

Diagnostic completeness over convenience

Every patient deserves an answer. The challenge of a peripheral nodule, a complex mediastinal mass, or an equivocal EBUS sample is not a reason to stop — it is a reason to think more carefully. I approach each case with the full procedural toolkit and the patience to use it well.

Multidisciplinary by design

Lung cancer and complex airway disease are not single-specialty problems. I practice within a multidisciplinary framework, in close coordination with thoracic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, radiology, and pathology — because the best outcomes are built on collaboration.

Technology in service of the patient

Advanced tools — cone beam CT guidance, cryobiopsy, robotic navigation — are means, not ends. I deploy them deliberately, choosing the right platform for each individual case rather than defaulting to any single system.

Research-informed clinical practice

Active participation in clinical research keeps my practice at the leading edge. I contribute to national trials and institutional quality improvement efforts because the best evidence shapes the best care.

Research & Academic Work

Contributing to the
science of the field.

Clinical Research

EBUS Adequacy & Sample Quality

Ongoing investigation into EBUS specimen adequacy — defining the procedural and operator variables that determine diagnostic yield, with implications for national quality benchmarks in bronchoscopic staging.

Thoracic Oncology

Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology

Integrated participation in a comprehensive thoracic oncology program, providing bronchoscopic staging, tissue acquisition, and procedural support for patients in clinical trials and institutional cancer care pathways.

Quality & Outcomes

Bronchoscopic Diagnostic Yield

Research into operator and anatomic predictors of bronchoscopic success — examining training pathway, case volume, and procedural technique as drivers of diagnostic accuracy across bronchoscopy programs.

Procedural Innovation

Emerging Procedural Techniques

Early adoption and systematic evaluation of emerging bronchoscopic platforms — including single-port thoracoscopy and advanced guided bronchoscopy — with interest in developing novel case series and technique publications.
